The UK is ready to advance with using the full worth of frozen Russian holdings to support the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the initiative would be carried out in tight collaboration with the United States.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian assets since the Russian government began its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, resources sent to Ukraine using Russian holdings had solely been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the frozen Moscow's national funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that more sanctions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement comes after EU officials convened in the Danish capital recently to consider utilizing frozen Russian holdings for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on international partners to confiscate or otherwise use frozen Russian assets, according to reports.

The value of seized Russia's holdings in the EU is assessed to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government launched widespread bombardments all over Ukraine on recently, leading to blackouts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and eight other regions.
