New Details Come to Light About the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the untimely deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Alarm
According to a report quoting a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the home. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Furthermore refuted published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
