Sweden Squad Lineup: Isak Included While Viktor Gyokeres Excluded
The striker joined the Gunners from Sporting during the offseason
Gunners forward Viktor Gyokeres fails to make the cut from Graham Potter's initial Swedish national squad, whereas Reds forward the talented attacker received selection
Gyokeres is scheduled to undergo additional assessments this week following worries he sustained a hamstring injury in the Gunners's English top flight win at the Clarets last weekend
Gyokeres missed the Gunners' Champions League win versus Slavia Prague earlier this week
Isak Makes Comeback
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from 22 October because of a groin injury, was selected to play in the World Cup matches against the Swiss team (November 15th) and the Slovenian side (18 November)
Other Premier League Call-ups
- Spurs playmaker Lucas Bergvall, who is recovering from concussion
- Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga
Both athletes are among the England-based contingent named by former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach Graham Potter
The New Manager's Role
The English manager was appointed by Sweden first temporarily in late October, less than a month after leaving by West Ham
Previous coach the Danish coach was fired after the national team's defeat against the Kosovan team on 13 October, a result which rendered direct progression from their World Cup group impossible
Present Situation
Sweden are currently last place of their qualifying group with just one point in their opening four games
Even if they don't manage to secure second place, there remains a chance they might take part in the qualification playoffs because of their results in the latest UEFA competition
