Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more getting ready to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in combat and proved effective “at night, under jamming and flying low,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in Kyiv shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the nation was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. Those killed had been inside their residences in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Numerous of other buildings sustained damage, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

Russia’s maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately targeted a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties concerning its international holdings after last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced after conclusive negotiations have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from both chambers of the legislature throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
